Research, Development and Application Center (MAGUM)

Hacettepe University Medicinal Chemistry Research, Development and Application Center (MAGUM) is a subunit of Hacettepe University. The research and application activities of MAGUM, in correlation with Regulations of Drug Research, includes drug design, structure-activity relations, activity studies, synthetic and natural drug and raw material analysis and molecular quality control in constitution of Faculty of Pharmacy with related departments. Also, with approval of Ethics Committee of University, MAGUM correlates with related departments of Faculty of Medicine to conduct studies, and education. When necessary, MAGUM collaborates with other universities and industrial research centers.

The President of MAGUM and Administrative Board of MAGUM (five faculty members from related departments) are assigned by the Rector of the Hacettepe University for three year period and the President is responsible directly to the Rector of the Hacettepe University.

The aims of MAGUM are as follows:

To provide studies on new drug design, preparation, structure-activity relation and other pharmacokinetics activity studies, medicinal chemistry, drug and raw material analysis and quality control of raw material,  research and application of evaluation of current molecular modeling systems.

To provide solid and lipid phase peptide synthesis, to develop and standardize purification methods, to design new peptidomimetic drug molecules and to research structure-activity relations.

To organize scientific programs such as advanced specialists courses, certificate programs, national and international seminars, conferences, congress and symposiums.

To provide national or international scholarships to faculty members, pharmacy students/graduates to improve their theoretical and practical knowledge in related topics.
